Hey there lovers!
My name is Zara and I have challenged myself, starting today, to give up (or heavily reduce my intake of) refined sugar for good, something I'm sure a number of you have tried, or at least considered.
There's a number of reasons as to why I am so determined to follow through with this; for starters the stuff is ADDICTIVE, seriously, one little cookie and the next thing you know you've eaten 10 and you feel like complete crap! This has happened to me wayyyy too many times, and it has caused me to gain weight, particularly over the past year.
Secondly, have you seen the amount of diseases and health issues that high amounts of sugar intake can lead to? It is toxic, I don't want that shit in my body, especially when I'm the one who controls what enters. I've found myself on numerous occasions unnecessarily short of breath, or my pulse higher than what it should be and everytime I have had some sort of sugary snack beforehand.
Finally, it is standing in the way in the quest for a hotter body. Yeha, I'm sure many people can relate to that; summers nearly here and there is NO WAY i'm ready to bare all at the beach. As sugar turns to fat, it is starting to show on my body.
Also I just found out I need 5 fillings in my teeth, which sucks, and is extremely expensive. Doesn't help!

Anyway, I'm totally determined to conquer this challenge and prevail. Just like everyone else I've struggled when it comes to food and body image issues, but it is going to happen this time, I know it, and I want you to join me on this journey; whether you too want to cut back or cut out sugar or you're just interested in viewing the results (if there are any). I will continue to write as often as I can and I would greatly appreciate any comments or support and if anyone wants to join this challenge, they can do so at any time and I would love if they kept me updated on their progress.

I started today, and amazingly it was easier than I anticipated, however I am predicting that it will get harder. For breakfast I ate weetbix by itself, without milk. I then had brown rice mixed with steamed vegetables for lunch, which was reallly nice :) and for dinner I had beans, carrots and sweet potato (by the way I'm a vegetarian). For snacks I had low fat yoghurt, with no added sugar and toast with vegemite. I'm happy, so far I don't feel much different but it is the healthiest I have eaten for a while and for once I am not going to bed bloated and uncomfortable :)
By the way if anyone has any awesome sugarfree snack or meal ideas let us know, that would be awesome.

Anyway I'm out for today,
give us some feedback

Love Zara
